I had recently had unprotected sex, however I didn't really think I was pregnant since he pulled out. I do know that there is still a chance for fertilization, so when my period was almost a week late, I decided to start a regimen of herbs that would get my period started, so I could be sure I wasn't pregnant.

I chose herbs that were not only emmenagogues but also abortifacents, so in the event I was pregnant the herbs would work on terminating the pregnancy also. I never took a pregnancy test. I started off with vitamin c, 500 mg, every hour during the day. I also took primrose oil but I don't think this did anything. I did this for 2 days. On the 3rd day I continued the vitamin c and primrose oil and also added dong quai, 2 - 550mg capsules every 4 hours, waking during the night. I drank parsley tea throughout the day, which I had been drinking since day 2. on day 4, I used a fresh parsley insert for a few hours.

The next day spotting was noticed about 10:30 a.m. and this turned into a normal period. I stopped the herbs once the bleeding was noticed. It was heavier than mine usually are, but didn't last any longer than usual. Since I wasn't pregnant, I suppose my period would have come on its own without the help from the emmenagogue herbs, but having it start as soon as possible gave me the peace of mind I was searching for, because being pregnant right now is just not an option. I am so glad I found this website, it's information and personal experiences taught me a lot. Thank you very much!
